Home minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said there is no existence of militant organisation IS in Bangladesh, and the news of the involvement of IS in Italian citizen Tavella Caeser’s killing has not been ascertained yet.
However, he expects the mystery of the killing would be solved soon.
The minister said four intelligence agencies, beside police, are working to unravel the mystery keeping in consideration militants’ involvement along with the victim’s personal and official rivalry.
“A US website informed of the IS claim of killing Tavella . However, none of the suspicions are being ruled out yet for the sake of investigation.The murder is an isolated incident and the foreigners need not feel insecure,” the home minister said, adding that adequate security has been provided in the diplomatic zone.
Asked why the law enforcers arrested people in recent past on suspicion of militancy connection despite claiming no existence of militants in the country, Asaduzzman Khan said police arrest potential militants who come from abroad to campaign for recruitment and persuasion. Their militancy can be proved only after investigation and trial, he added.
The minister said there is no reason of skipping Bangladesh tour by Australian cricketers on excuse of the murder of Italian national in Dhaka.
