NSWAREB to provide FaL-G technology for fly ash bricks

Institute for Solid Waste Research and Ecological Balance (INSWAREB), the unique techno-scientific organization in NGO segment will provide FaL-G technology to Bangladesh to produce fly ash bricks for sustainable development.

Addressing the media here today, Director of INSWAREB), N Kalidas said the technology will be provided free of cost and a laboratory and unit will establish in Bangladesh soon.

fly ashHe said, Institute for Industrial Productivity (IIP) had identified FaL-G brick technology for its virtues to sustainable development.

Kalidas said the senior executives of the IIP visited INSWAREB in September last year exploring to spread this technology in third world countries.

‘IIP visited Bangladesh last year and learnt that a sense of interest prevailed in Bangladesh for alternate walling material owing to the fact that large coal based thermal power plants are under construction in Bangladesh those generate huge quantities of fly ash in near future , and the brick sector in Bangladesh is faced with severe government mandate to conserve fertile top soil to enhance food security’, he said.

He said a delegation from Bangladesh had come to INSWAREB this month for studying FaL-G technology at field level,.

One more delegation is due to from the ministry of environment.

The delegation visited several fly ash brick units in and around Visakhapatnam.

He said, at an invitation of the government of Bangladesh and Brick Manufacturing owners association, he paid a visit to Bangladesh on May second to enlighten them about FaL-G technology.

The clay brick industry in Bangladesh continues age old practices even today consuming over 300 tonnes of coal per million bricks.

Efforts by UNDP and the World Bank to modernize clay brick activity could not make much dent.
