Robi has launched electricity bill payment service facility for Power Development Board (PDB) in Sylhet.
This came at a launching ceremony organized in Sylhet at Hotel Nirvana Inn on Wednesday (15 April 2015).
Robi has already started collecting electricity bill of March 2015 for PDB customers in the region. Of the six electricity billing regions of PDB, Robi is currently providing the electricity bill payment facility in Rajshahi, Comilla, Mymensingh, Sylhet and Rangpur region.
This electricity bill payment system on mobile phones is to be integrated with the PDB’s electricity billing system. Hence, electricity bills paid through Robi’s payment system will be updated real time on PDB’s system. From convenience point of view, PDB clients may choose to pay their bills either through Robi Cash Points or through their mobile phones.
Mobile users will get an automatic SMS regarding their monthly dues. Besides, they will get a reminder text prior to the payment deadline in case they forget to pay the dues. Moreover, once they pay, they will get an immediate confirmation of the payment. Hence, Robi mobile electricity bill payment system is completely secure and reliable.
Minister for Ministry of Social Welfare, Syed Mohsin Ali graced the programme as Chief Guest. Shafiqur Rahman Chowdhury, MP were present at the event as Guests of Honour. Md. Kamrul Ahsan, Police Commissioner, Sylhet Metropolitan Police was present on the occasion as Special Guest.
Badar Uddin Ahmed Kamran, President, Sylhet Mohangar Awami League; Enamul Habib, Chief Executive Officer (Acting Mayor), Sylhet City Corporation; Major Humayun Kabir, Deputy Director, Rapid Action Battalion- 9, Sylhet were also present at the launching event.
Engr. Md. Sahinul Islam Khan, Chairman, BPDB; Engr. Ratan Kumar Bishwas, Chief Engineer, BPDB, Sylhet; Md. Mustafizur Rahman, BPDB (Sr. System Analyst) along with other PDB officials from Sylhet were also present at the bill payment launching ceremony.
Shah Jalal Uddin, General Manager, Channel Development & Operations, Digital Services of Robi gave a short brief on the payment process of electricity bills over mobile phone. Besides, benefits of the electricity bill payment service through mobile phones were captured in a folk song. The programme was conducted by Ekram Kabir, Vice President, Communications and Corporate Responsibility of Robi. A colourful rally was brought out in the city at the end of the programme.
Ahmed Parvez Iqbal, Vice President, Legal; Dewan Nazmul Hasan, Head of Finance & Regulations, Digital Services and Regional Manager in Sylhet Josim Uddin from Robi Axiata Limited were also present at the event.
