Qatar has agreed to hire skilled workers from Bangladesh. Labour and Social Affairs Minister of Qatar Abdullah bin Saleh Al Khulaifi spoke with Bangladesh Ambassador Ashud Ahmed about plans to hire workers from Bangladesh with the embassy stating that the minister has shown interest in taking workers in the construction, hospitality and service sectors in Qatar.
Ashud Ahmed has stated that there are currently 280,000 Bangladeshi workers employed in Qatar.
Ambassador Ashud Ahmed told the minister about Bangladesh’s readiness to provide a pool of professionals and said the government had shifted its focus “to more skilled and demand-specific works abroad”.
Al Khulaifi has stated that the government will cooperate with Bangladesh to bring the workers to Qatar.
