Myanmar has finally returned abducted Border Guard Bangladesh Nayek Abdur Razzak eight days after his abduction by its border force intruding Bangladesh territory.
Razzak was handed over to the BGB officials during a flag meeting at Maungdaw in Myanmar around 3:00pm Thursday.
Earlier, a seven-member BGB team reached Maungdaw of Myanmar for the meeting at about 10:15am.
The BGB team, led by Teknaf BGB-42 battalion commander Lieutenant Colonel Abu Zar Al Zahid, joined the meeting with a ten-member team of Myanmar’s Border Guard Police (BGP).
The BGB team started for Maungdaw around 9:30am from Teknaf port by two high-speed boats of Bangladesh Coast Guard.
On 17 June, Myanmar troops shot at a BGB patrol team near the border and detained injured BGB Nayek Abdur Razzak, intruding into Bangladesh.
