Red Cross, Red Crescent Day observed

Bangladesh Red Crescent Society today observed the 150th World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day with a slogan “Everywhere for everyone”.

President M Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina issued separate messages on the occasion of the day, according to a release.

To mark the day, Bangladesh Red Crescent Society organised a discussion and Red Crescent Red CrescentAward giving ceremony at Holy Family Red Crescent Medical College Hospital auditorium with its vice chairman Professor Dr Habibey Millat, MP, in the chair.

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan delivered his speech in the discussion as the chief guest, while treasurer of the society Advocate Towhidur Rahman, managing board members Roisul Islam Moyna and Razia Sultana Luna, International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) Bangladesh chief Ajmat Ullah and Bangladesh chief of International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Ikhtiyar Aslanov also spoke.

Earlier, the Red Crescent Society hoisted the national and society flag this morning and brought out a rally from Holy Family Red Crescent Medical College Hospital in the city that ended at National Press Club.
