Regional seminar on ‘chemical safety’ begins

A three-day regional seminar on ‘Chemical Safety and Security Management’ began in the city today.

Bangladesh National Authority for Chemical Weapons Convention (BNACWC) arranged the seminar at Antora Hall, Radisson Blu, Water Garden here, said an ISPR release.

2016-1jpgAhmet Uzumcu, Director General of Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) inaugurated the Seminar, BSS reports.

Lt. Gen. Md Mahfuzur Rahman, Chairman, Bangladesh National Authority for BNACWC gave welcome address. Additional foreign secretary Kamrul Ahsan gave vote of thanks.

A total of 40 participants, 20 from SAARC and ASEAN countries, and 20 from local organizations and industries attended it.

The aim of the seminar was to put emphasis on the best practices of the use of chemicals and thereby to create a safe environment in the field of chemical.

It also highlighted necessary of Chemical Safety Management to build a safe and wealthy world.

Among others, representatives from the embassy of different countries and noted personalities from various organizations were also present.
