The country received remittance amounting to about US$378.76 million in the first nine days of the current month, reports UNB. Meanwhile, the remittance inflow in April was US $1232.41 million, according to the latest data provided by the Bangladesh Bank (BB). The central bank data also showed that some US $ 14,461.14 million came as remittance in the last fiscal year (2012-13).
This was followed by $ 111.02 million through four state-owned commercial banks, $ 5.27 million through four specialised banks and $ 4.62 million through foreign commercial banks operating in Bangladesh.
Analysing the BB data, it was found that the highest amount of US$ 104.99 million came through Islami Bank Bangladesh Ltd followed by $ 39.66 million through Agrani Bank, $ 30.87 million through Janata Bank Ltd, $ 35.48 million through Sonali Bank Ltd, $ 19.91 million through National Bank Ltd, $ 8.64 million through Brac Bank Ltd and $ 5.01 million through Rupali Bank.
Country’s remittance inflow totalled $12,843.43 million in the fiscal 2011-12 compared to $11,650.31 million in the previous fiscal 2010-11.
