Remittances up 1.1pc in August on year

Money sent home by Bangladeshis working overseas in August rose 1.1 percent from a year earlier to about $1.19 billion, the central bank said on Thursday. Banks’ profit eroded by bad loans

A Financial Stability Report for 2014 has been released by the Bangladesh Bank, the nation’s central bank, and a key outcome of it is that high non-performing loans (NPLs) eroded the earnings of banks last year.
