Corona vaccine approved for use in Russia
A locally developed vaccine for Covid-19 has been given regulatory approval in Russia after less than two months of testing on humans.
Russian President Vladimir Putin said the vaccine had passed all the required checks, adding that his daughter had already been given it, reports BBC.
Officials have said they plan to start mass vaccination in October.
Experts have raised concerns about the speed of Russia’s work, suggesting that researchers might be cutting corners.
Amid fears that safety could have been compromised, the World Health Organization (WHO) urged Russia last week to follow international guidelines for producing a vaccine against Covid-19.

The Trump administration plans to issue a deferral this week on its decision about whether to impose additional tariffs on imported cars, two industry sources told AFP Tuesday.

Palestinians followed through with their vow to protest massively along the Gaza border Monday with tens of thousands demonstrating and 62 killed by Israeli fire as clashes erupted over the controversial inauguration of the US embassy in Jerusalem.
The death toll made it the deadliest day in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict since the 2014 Gaza war, reports AFP.
The 41, including a 14-year-old, were shot dead by Israeli forces as clashes broke out at five points along the Gaza border hours before the opening of the embassy.
