Polluted air causes 5.5m deaths a year

More than 5.5 million people worldwide are dying prematurely every year as a result of air pollution, according to new research. Most of these deaths are occurring in the rapidly developing economies of China and India. The main culprit is the emission of small particles from power plants, factories, vehicle exhausts and from the burning of coal and wood. The data was compiled as part of the Global Burden of Disease Project. The informal shop-cum tailoring outlet is the only one of its kind in the neighbourhood and so the shop has a good record of sales of apparels. Tally of Rohingya minority starts

Bangladesh has begun a count of the number of Rohingya Muslims living on its territory, as reported persecution continues to drive thousands from Myanmar. The census will also include data on living conditions. Authorities in Bangladesh have already begun a survey to document the number of Rohingya living there, according to reports on Saturday.
