Teen boy kills father over mobile dispute

A son killed his father at Polashpara in Chuadanga district town on March 22 at about 9 pm over using a mobile phone. Police arrested him with two knives which were used in the killing.

The deceased was identified as AKM Rintu alias Dodul, 52, son of Kaji Afazuddin of Polashpara in the district town.

According to sources, AKM Rifat Rahman, 17, son of deceased AKM Rintu of Polashpara in the town was arrested by Chuadanga police on the charge of killing his father. The police recovered two knives from his possession. Police suspected that these recovered knives were used to kill his father.

Chuadanga Police Station’s Officer in Charge Khaledur Rahman said Rifat was using a cell phone the day at night at home. So his father asked Rifat not to use his cell phone and took the phone forcibly from him as he attacked his father with sharp knives repeatedly causing serious injuries. Due to hue and cry locals rushed there and sent him to Chuadanga Sadar Hospital for treatment, but on-duty medical officer Tarek Joayed declared him dead.

Police recovered the body. A case was filed with Chuadanga Police Station.
