Titas Gas to be more customer-friendly

Due to the government’s commitment and the multifaceted reform initiatives undertaken by Harunur Rashid Mollah, the Managing Director of Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company Limited, customers of Titas Gas are set to experience significant improvements shortly. To ensure uninterrupted gas supply for its customers, Titas Gas has already launched several small, medium, and large projects. Under the guidance of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and the Minister of State for Power, Energy, and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid Bipu, as well as Petrobangla’s Chairman Zanendra Nath Sarker and Titas Gas’s Managing Director, various measures have been taken to make the energy sector more customer-friendly.

These measures include replacing old distribution lines with modern ones, disconnecting illegal gas connections in residential, industrial, and commercial establishments, and implementing a fully digital gas distribution and service system to transform Titas into a smart company. Additionally, Titas plans to install meters at gas sources to accurately measure consumption, install meters in homes and factories to ensure proper revenue collection, and reduce losses. The company is also taking punitive measures against officials and employees to curb irregularities and corruption and is preventing unauthorized interference in gas lines by influential individuals.

The primary challenge now is to establish Titas Gas as a development-friendly institution within the next few years. To achieve this, Managing Director Harunur Rashid Mollah has adopted a zero-tolerance policy. Analysts believe that he has maintained an excellent trajectory of success in transforming Titas to a profitable company over the past three terms.

Harunur Rashid Mollah, the current Managing Director of Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company Limited, stated that a project worth 120 billion BDT has been initiated in Dhaka and Narayanganj, with NDB Bank agreeing to provide 500 million USD in assistance. The remaining funds will be invested by Titas. Once this project is completed, it will ensure uninterrupted gas supply in Dhaka and surrounding areas. To bring automation and metering to industries, Titas is in discussions with ADB, World Bank, and Japan Bank to install 3 million prepaid meters. Financial support has been promised, and consultants will be appointed soon to move the project to the tender phase within this year.

Titas has undertaken several other projects that, once implemented, will transform it into a smart institution and ensure uninterrupted service to residential, commercial, and industrial sectors. Efforts are underway to maintain consistent gas pressure across all areas. Titas Gas is now highly active in providing uninterrupted gas connections to industries nationwide.
