2 persons detained with gold bars in Chuadanga

BGB of Chuadanga battalion detained two persons along with 18 illegal gold bars (weighing 2 kg 411 grams) worth about tk. 2,93,78,231 from  Purbasha Paribahan in front of Chuadanga BGB Battalion on  Chuadanga -Jhinedah road in Chuadanga district on March 4 at about 1 am.

The arrested persons are Rafiqul Islam (42), son of the late Khodabox of Pirpurkullah village in Damurhuda upazila of the district, and Liton Khan (26), son of Moslem Uddin of Hossainpur village in Debidwar upazila of Comilla district.

Chuadanga-6 BGB Battalion Commander and Director Lt. Col. Nazmul Hasan said at a press conference that on March 4 at about 1 am,  based on  information, a team  of BGB members led by the battalion’s acting Quartermaster Assistant Director Haider Ali identified the passenger bus at Sarojganj Bazar. Then, the bus (Dhaka Metro B 15-0456) was intercepted  in front of the BGB headquarters battalion,  two suspicious persons were searched and the gold bars were recovered from them. Besides 2 mobile phone sets and 10 thousand 190  cash taka were seized from the detained persons.

Nayek Saidur Rahman has filed a case with Chuadanga Sadar Police Station in this regard. The seized gold bars will be deposited at the Chuadanga Treasury Office after examination.
