The 12th annual Research Findings Dissemination Conference for the Bangladesh Tobacco Control Research Network (BTCRN) recently took place to showcase new studies on important tobacco control topics.
Eight BTCRN grantees presented research on critical issues like smoke-free policies, health warning labels and plain and standardized packaging for the more than 200 participants at the event.
Over the past 12 years, BTCRN has helped build capacity by awarding 131 carefully evaluated tobacco control policy research grants, including to young researchers.
With distinguished guests from the Government of Bangladesh as well as local universities, the conference provided an opportunity to highlight efforts designed to help everyone in Bangladesh live a safer, healthier life.
Ms. Sheikh Momena Moni, Additional Secretary (WH Wing), Health Services Division, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, served as the Chief Guest for the opening program. In the closing program, Mr. Md. Akhteruzzaman, Director General, National Tobacco Control Cell, served as the Chief Guest. IGTC Director Joanna Cohen provided opening remarks via video, and Sejal Saraf represented IGTC on the panel.
