JICA videography contest to showcase public stories in MRT

The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Bangladesh Office today announced the launch of a videography contest to engage the public in sharing their personal experiences with the MRT Line 6 developed with JICA’s cooperation. The contest titled #MyMRTExperience invites citizens, filmmakers, and content creators to capture their daily experiences with the MRT.  The contest aims to showcase how the MRT has transformed the daily lives of its passengers and contributed to Dhaka’s urban mobility, since its launch.

GOP gears up for national polls, demands genocide trial

SUB celebrates Boshonto Utshob 1431  

Under the theme “Let our souls be enlivened with the hues of spring, celebrating the call of spring with songs and joy!”, the Cultural Club of State University of Bangladesh (SUB) organized the “Boshonto Utshob 1431” on 12 February 2025 at the university’s campus in South Purbachal, Dhaka. The event was presided over by the Vice-Chancellor (Designate) Prof. Dr. Md. Akhtar Hossain Khan. Also, in attendance were Registrar Dr. Ahmed Hussain and Senior Deputy Registrar Farhana Sharmin. The event was hosted by Kotha Nahian, Lecturer of the Department of Journalism, Communication, and Media Studies.

UN probe reveals Hasina, top leaders led brutal repression

The UN Human Rights Office has released a report detailing severe human rights violations committed during last year’s student-led protests in Bangladesh, which resulted in the fall of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s government. According to the report, the security and intelligence forces, along with Awami League-affiliated violent elements, carried out systematic and widespread repression, leading to as many as 1,400 deaths in just 46 days. Thousands were injured, with most of the casualties attributed to security forces’ gunfire. Among those killed, approximately 12–13 per cent were children. Additionally, Bangladesh Police reported 44 officer deaths.

UAE wants to expand trade ties with Bangladesh

bdreports24 Desk: Minister of health of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Abdul Rahman bin Mohamed Al Owais  called on Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus on Thursday on the sidelines of the World Government Summit (WGS) in Dubai. The minister thanked the Chief Adviser during the meeting, for joining the prestigious annual summit of top government leaders, saying his presence has uplifted the gathering, according to a message received. "We learn from people like you," the UAE health minister said as they discussed various aspects of the WGS. "The WGS is learning from the experiences of people, who have come from all over the world," he said.
