7th Plan aims at faster poverty reduction, LCG told

The government in its upcoming 7th Five Year Plan aims at a faster pace of poverty reduction through higher GDP growth and better income distribution.

It was stated at the Local Consultative Group Plenary Meeting held today at the NEC Conference Room here, reports BSS.

7th PlanThe Economic Relations Division (ERD) organized the meeting to share the core outlines and features of the 7th Five Year Plan with the development partners, said a press release.

Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith was present at the meeting as chief guest. It was also attended by planning minister AHM Mustafa Kamal as special guest and state minister for finance and planning M A Mannan as guest of honor.

ERD senior secretary Mohammad Mejbahuddin was also present during the meeting.

Development partners who were present at the meeting were informed of the salient features of the 7th Five Year Plan. Member of the Planning Commission Prof Dr. Shamsul Alam provided a sector-wise detailed overview of the upcoming 7th Five Year Plan to the meeting participants.

Afterwards, senior government officials and representatives of major development partners gave their suggestions and observations on the 7th Five Year Plan.
