Teachers and students of the Applied Mathematics Department of Rajshahi University (RU) celebrated its 12th Founding Anniversary on Saturday amid much enthusiasm and festivity on campus.
To mark the day, the Department chalked out a daylong different programmes. RU Vice-Chancellor Prof Muhammad Mizanuddin as Chief Guest inaugurated the ceremony by 
releasing balloon in the air around 10:00am in front of the University 4th Science Building.
Marking the day, a colourful procession was brought out led by RU Pro-Vice Chancellor
Prof Chowdhury Sarwar Jahan and Chairman of the Department Prof Dr Abdul
Haque where former and present teachers and students of the Department took part in the procession.
Later, a discussion meeting was also held at the university Kazi Nazrul Islam auditorium where, among others, RU treasurer Professor Sayen Uddin Ahmed, Dean Of Science
Faculty Prof Habibur Rahman spoke. A cultural event followed the discussion programmed at auditorium in the afternoon.
