The authorities should urgently set up an effective mechanism to protect witnesses in cases before the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) of Bangladesh, Human Rights Watch (HRW) said on Tuesday.
Prosecution witness Mustafa Howlader died on December 10, 2013, after being attacked in his home. Howlader appeared in the case against Delwar Hossain Sayedee, a leading figure in the Jamaat-e-Islaami party.

The central bank has relaxed the loan rescheduling policy on a limited scale for the next six months to facilitate financing for the businesses, affected by the ongoing political unrest.
Under the relaxations, the Bangladesh Bank (BB) has allowed banks to reschedule loans by fixing their down payment and time limit for repayment on the basis of banker-customer relationship.
