Banking Companies Act likely to bring ambiguities

In terms of comprehensiveness, precision and clarity, the Banking Companies (Amendment) Act 2013 is likely to bring ambiguities among the stakeholders; the shortcomings of the Act, therefore, should be addressed immediately to ensure proper corporate governance in the banking sector, opine speaker at a conference organized by Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh  (ICAB) at its auditorium in the city on Friday. Md. Habibur Rahman Bhuiyan FCA, Deputy Managing Director, Islami Bank Bangladesh Ltd and S.M. Bata to invest Tk 2000m in next five years

Jack Clemons, world wide chief executive officer (CEO) of Bata Shoe Organisation said Bata Bangladesh is going to invest Tk 2,000 million in next five years. Addl security for power plants sought as violence mounting

The ministry of power, energy and mineral resources has requested the home ministry for additional security around the power plants across the country, in view of the worsening political situation. “We have asked for additional security around the power plants which are not under Key Point Installation (KPI),” said Tapos Kumar Roy, Additional Secretary of the ministry. “At the same time, the ministry has also asked the power supply entities to build up own security measures from their own resources without fully depending on the government,” Tapos said.
