Bangladesh Water Expo- 2017 kicks off in city

 A three day long Bangladesh Water Expo 2017 has kicked off today in the city to showcase innovative technologies for water and water waste management.

Dr. M H Millat, the honorable Member of the Parliament, Bangladesh Parliament inaugurated the event as the chief guest at the International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB).

Dr. Millat said, “Water and Waste Water sector is important as it is related to all sort of environmental pollution. I know hundreds of companies which do not comply the environmental regulations. So we need to keep an eye on it.”

About the progress of Bangladesh on water pollution he said, “Bangladesh has made a significant progress in reducing water pollution. Water pollution in the country has decreased Image-2significantly because of the government’s step to make Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) for the industry mandatory. The Government is strictly monitoring whether industries are following the ETP related rules.”

The Government has also taken effective measures to ensure safe water in the remote areas, he added.

As special guest of the event Quazi Sarwar Md Imtiaz Hasmi, Additional Director General, Department of Environment said, “Water management is a significant issue for the third world countries. As day progresses, use of ETP has been increased in the country. Though, its solution is challenging, but it is manageable. Like us, many other countries of the third world have also the same problem in cities and villages. But with the expansion of technology, this problem is diminishing.”
