BRACU holds int’l confce on Globalization and Trade

Economics and Social Sciences (ESS) Department at BRACUniversity is holding a day-long conference on Globalization and Trade: Prospects and Challenges for South Asia at BRAC Centre in the city on Friday.

The conference brought academic researchers, consultants and policy makers to brainstorm issues in globalization to regional economies and produce peer-reviewed research outputs.

BRACUProf Syed M Hashemi, Head of ESS department at BRACUniversity will welcome delegates at 9 AM. Renowned Prof Wahiduddin Mahmud shall deliver the keynote presentation.

A total of fourteen research papers are to be presented by researchers from Bangladesh, USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. Four thematic sessions will be chaired by Dr Debapriya Bhattacharya, (CPD), Dr Quazi Shahabuddin, (BIDS), Dr. Mustafa K. Mujeri, (BIDS) and Professor Fahad Khalil (University of Washington, USA). The conference shall conclude with discussions from a distinguished panel of economists comprising of Dr. Mustafa K. Mujeri, (BIDS), Professor A.B. Mirza Md. Azizul Islam (BRACUniversity), Dr Mozibur Rahman (Foreign Trade Institute), and Professor Mustafizur Rahman (CPD).

Shamim Shakur from MasseyUniversity in New Zealand, currently Visiting Professor of Economics, and Farzana Munshi, Associate Professor, both from ESS at BRACUniversity are conveners of the conference.
