BNP Joint Secretary General Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie has been remanded for seven days in connection with the attack, vandalism, and arson at the Bangladesh Television (BTV) building during the quota reform movement.
The remand was granted today by Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Shanta Akter following a hearing. Prior to this, the investigating officer of the case presented Annie in court, seeking a 10-day remand. The incident occurred on 18 July when the BTV office in Rampura was attacked. Following the incident, BTV Dhaka Centre General Manager Mahfuza Akter filed a case at Rampura police station the next day.
Annie was subsequently arrested last Thursday evening from the Elephant Road area in the capital.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina consoled the family members of the deceased persons killed in the mayhem by BNP-Jamaat terrorists, taking advantage of the recent quota reform movement, as they met her at her official residence, Ganabhaban on Sunday.

DB chief Harun-or-Rashid assured the families of the detained quota reform movement coordinators that their loved ones are safe and under protection in a press conference held on Sunday.
Harun emphasized that the coordinators were taken into custody for their own safety, urging their families not to worry. This statement comes after three coordinators were brought to the DB office on Friday, with two more following on Saturday evening.

State Minister for Posts, Telecommunications and ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak said that mobile internet services will be restored by July 29. But access to social media sites, including Facebook, will be restricted.
He briefs the media at the BTRC building in Agargaon on Wednesday.
Palak said that the government has been working to restore the internet services as quickly as possible. “By tonight, full broadband internet services will be available at homes," he added.
Meanwhile, limited broadband internet services were restored from July 23 night, five days after the initial disruption.
However, mobile internet services remain suspended, and social media sites including Facebook and Instagram, remained inaccessible.
