Contract with FireEye unlikely to extend
Bangladesh Bank is unlikely to extend the contract of U.S. cyber security firm FireEye to investigate the electronic theft of $81 million of its money, sources at the bank said on Wednesday, citing high costs as one of the factors.
The move comes as law enforcement in Bangladesh and the United States have reported little progress in identifying the criminals more than four months after one of the biggest cyber heists to date.
FireEye’s Mandiant forensics division was hired by Bangladesh Bank weeks after the cyber heist in early February. It said in an interim report that hackers took control of the bank’s network,
Atiur blames global system for BB heist
The former governor of Bangladesh’s central bank, from which $81 million was stolen in February, says that flaws in the global money transfer system — and not any misstep by him — are to blame for the brazen cyberheist.
In an interview this week at his home in a well-to-do neighborhood in the Bangladeshi capital, Dhaka, Atiur Rahman, who resigned from his post after the theft, said that the loss had been a “systemic failure” and that “Bangladesh should not be blamed for something going wrong in the chain.”

Clinton plans to disqualify Trump on handling of economy
Presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton plans to portray Republican Donald Trump as an erratic and unfit steward of the nation’s economy, returning to Ohio to press the case that workers would bear the brunt of the business mogul’s policies.
Clinton’s Tuesday address in Ohio, one of the nation’s most prominent swing states, will aim to place a marker on the economy in a similar manner in which she did on foreign policy earlier this month with a searing takedown of Trump in San Diego.

The Coal based power plant proposed to be built near the city of Khulna, close to the Sundarbans mangrove forest, is a joint venture between India and Bangladeshs state owned entities. The project is heavily subsidized, exposes investors, taxpayers and consumers to high risk and is a potential stranded asset in the making.
We examined the Rampal coal power project on parameters such as funding, investment, cost of production, supply of fuel as well as risk due to extreme weather events. The project fails on a
Dahala Khagrabari!
Dahala Khagrabari is a geopolitical anomaly. It's a piece of India that until very recently was completely surrounded by a piece of Bangladesh, which itself was completely surrounded by India, which was again completely surrounded by Bangladesh.
An enclave is a piece of one country's territory which is entirely surrounded by another country's territory, and the India-Bangladesh border was filled with them before 2015, when they were eliminated by a treaty between the two countries. A second-order enclave is an enclave inside an enclave, and the world has a handful of them. But in the history of the world
