Protesters to hold nationwide funeral processions Wednesday

To honor those killed, protesters announced they will hold symbolic funeral processions (Ghaibana Janaza) and coffin marches nationwide on Wednesday. Staff Reporter:  At least six people were killed, and several hundred injured in Dhaka, Chittagong, and Rangpur on Tuesday as police and Chhatra League members clashed with quota reform activists for the second consecutive day. Three of the deceased were identified as Abu Sayeed (22), an English Department student at Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur (BRUR); Wasim Akram, a Social Science student at Chittagong College; and Faruq, a pedestrian. Schools, colleges closed indefinitely nationwide

Staff Reporter: All secondary and higher secondary educational institutions, as well as polytechnic institutes, across the country have been ordered to suspend their classes indefinitely. This announcement was made by the Ministry of Education in a statement released on Tuesday evening (July 16). Abul Khair, the ministry's public relations officer, confirmed the directive. The statement noted that considering the safety of school and college-going students, all educational institutions under the purview of the Ministry of Education, including secondary and higher secondary schools and polytechnic institutes, will remain closed until further notice.

All in Rajshahi to get drinkable water supply by 2027

Hundred percent people of Rajshahi city and its adjacent municipalities will come under the supply of drinkable water as Rajshahi Water Supply and Sewerage Authority (RWASA) is implementing a project to this end. The water treatment project will be completed by 2027 with the main thrust of ensuring water quality and meeting the water deficit. Upon successful implementation of the project, 20 crore liters of purified water will be supplied to the targeted beneficiaries every day. The drinkable water will be supplied to the people of Rajshahi city and its surrounding Naohata and Katakhali pourashava.
