Tender issued to import 50,000 T wheat

Bangladesh has issued an international tender to buy 50,000 tonnes of wheat, the latest in a series of tenders as the country looks to replenish reserves, a procurement official said on Monday. The political parties should ensure the smooth functioning of export-import and the supply chain, said Dr M Mojibur Rahman, chief executive officer of Bangladesh Foreign Trade Institute (BFTI). “I urge all the political parties to keep goods transportation system and other supply chain management system out of political programmes like hartal and blockade for the sake of the country’s economic development,” he said. Pay commission likely to be announced today

The government is likely to announce a Pay Commission on Sunday for recommending raising the salaries and allowances of the government officials and employees, Finance Minister AMA Muhith said. “We won’t be able to constitute a permanent Pay Commission, and Pay and Services Commission right now because there is a need for enacting law for this. We’re now forming a Pay Commission, which will be a temporary one,” he said. The Finance Minister was talking to the media after attending a grand rally and reception accorded to him by the Bangladesh Audit and Accounts Officers Council and Auditors Welfare Association at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre (BICC) on Friday morning.
