Digital start-ups at IT Incubator

Jon Eddy, Head of Emerging Markets, VimpelCom, Banglalink’s parent company along with Mr. Zunaid Ahmed Palak, State Minister for ICT, Government of Bangladesh has visited country’s first digital incubator which was established as a private public partnership to nourish the local entrepreneurial talents in developing digital solutions for a true digital Bangladesh. During this visit Mr. Erik Aas, CEO, Banglalink and Taimur Rahman, Corporate and Regulatory Affairs Officer, Banglalink were also present at the occasion.

This initiative has helped the young entrepreneurs to create their own platform for small and medium business startups. Digital Bangladesh has always been the goal of Government and country has already witnessed several revolutionary initiatives which have been driving us img_8203-copytowards Digitalization. Our strategy supports the Government’s digital drive and ambitions for the country with the potential to change people’s lives. Banglalink also wants to connect its customers to this digital world of the future and unlock its endless opportunities. This starts-up are the future of tomorrow’s digital world and being a responsible corporate entity Banglalink always encourages them and would like to give them the first opportunity to sell their applications to us.

Mr. Zunaid Ahmed Palak, Hon’ble State Minister for ICT, Government of Bangladesh said, “I am happy to see the digital progression among the young talents of the country. Bangladesh Government is committed to establishing Digital Bangladesh by 2021. I want to thank Banglalink for coming forward in establishing country’s first IT Incubator. The government is committed to build a true digital Bangladesh and will keep on working for creating a sustainable ecosystem taking these talents from the incubator to market their products and services in home and abroad”.

While visiting the IT Incubator Jon Eddy, Head of Emerging Markets, VimpelCom said, “The IT Incubator Centre is a part of VimpelCom’s group global corporate responsibility Make Your Mark initiative. Banglalink, one of the leading Digital communications service providers of Bangladesh in its collaboration with Bangladesh Government has supported to establish an IT Incubation Centre for creating a platform for the Digital Startups. It was inaugurated by Mr. Sajeeb Wazed, ICT Affairs Advisor to the Honorable Prime Minister of Bangladesh in the presence of Zunaid Ahmed Palak, Hon’ble State Minister for ICT, Houlin Zhau, Secretary General of International Telecom Union (ITU), Augie K. Fabela, Co-Founder, VimpelCom and Erik Aas, CEO of Banglalink back in July 2016 at Janata Tower, Karwan Bazar, Dhaka.
