Islami Bank Bangladesh Limited opened its 310th Branch at Bakerganj of Barisal. Prof. Syed Ahsanul Alam, Chairman, Executive Committee of the bank inaugurated the branch on November 21, 2016, Monday as chief guest. Presided over by Mohammad Abdul Mannan, Managing Director & CEO, Helal Ahmed Chowdhury, Chairman Audit Committee, Prof. Dr. Qazi Shahidul Alam, Md. Mizanur Rahman, and Prof. Dr. Md. Sirajul Karim, Directors of the bank and Md. Lokman Hossain Dakua, Mayor, Bakerganj Pourashova addressed as special guests. Tahmina Begum, Vice Chairperson, Bakerganj Upazila Parishad, Prof. Mujibur Rahman, former 
principal, Bakerganj Govt. College, Amol Chandra Das Shibu, general secretary, hindu-buddist-christian okkya parishad, Abul Kalam Azad, Masud Akon and Sanjib Kumar Shaha, business persons addressed among locals. Md. Habibur Rahman Bhuiyan. FCA, Deputy Managing Director, Md. Abdus Salam, Senior Vice President and Head of Barisal Zone along with a number of local businesspersons, professionals, and social elites attended the program.
Prof. Syed Ahsanul Alam, as chief guest said, Islami Bank, based on Islamic economic system, has been playing role as safe-custodian of deposits for the people who dislike interest. The bank has carrying out the fact-based activities for removing the poverty from the country. He said, the bank has included 1 million marginal families of 20 thousand villages with the mainstream economy of the country through its Rural Development Scheme. He assured for expansion of more micro investment across the country. He called upon all for working together with Islami Bank in reaching the country to a mid-income one.
On the eve of inauguration the branch, a seminar on ‘Superiority and Success of Islamic Banking System’ was held on November 20, 2016. Presided over by Mohammad Abdul Mannan, Managing Director & CEO of the bank, Prof. Syed Ahsanul Alam, Chairman, Executive Committee of the bank was the chief guest while Helal Ahmed Chowdhury, Chairman Audit Committee, Prof. Dr. Qazi Shahidul Alam, Md. Mizanur Rahman, Prof. Dr. Md. Sirajul Karim, Directors and Md. Habibur Rahman Bhuiyan. FCA, Deputy Managing Director were present as special guests. Md. Abdus Salam, Senior Vice President and Head of Barisal Zone presented keynote paper and Dr. Muhammad Abdus Samad, Member Secretary, Shariah Supervisory Committee presented discussion on the topic.
