Shortfall in revenue collection due to political unrest

The revenue collection by Chittagong customs house witnessed a shortfall of Tk 25.41 billion, as it collected Tk 233.49 billion against the revenue target of Tk 258.90 billion in the 2012-2013 FY due to political instability, although the collection crossed the targets in previous fiscal years. Pay commission likely to be announced today

The government is likely to announce a Pay Commission on Sunday for recommending raising the salaries and allowances of the government officials and employees, Finance Minister AMA Muhith said. “We won’t be able to constitute a permanent Pay Commission, and Pay and Services Commission right now because there is a need for enacting law for this. We’re now forming a Pay Commission, which will be a temporary one,” he said.
