Malaysia Healthcare Week kicks off in city

Malaysia Healthcare Week (MHW) kicked off in the capital city Dhaka from today (Saturday, 10 Oct., 2015) with commitment to extend quality healthcare services for Bangladeshi patients in Malaysia and ensure their smooth accessibility and affordability.  The program was launched amid a press conference in the Jatiya Press Club. `Malaysia Healthcare Travel Council (MHTC)’  jointly with its Bangladesh counterpart `GDAssist Ltd.’ organized the weeklong health campaign.

Madam Suriahni Abdul Hamid, Chief Operating Officer of the MHTC and Mrs. Farzana Chowdhury, Director of `GDAssist Ltd. and Managing Director of Green Delta Inc. Ltd launched the program in presence of Mr. Nasir A. Choudhury, Chairman of GDAssist Ltd. and founder Managing Director and adviser of Green Delta Insurance addressed the function. Speaking the press conference Madam Suriahni Abdul Hamid, Chief Operating Officer of the MHTC said, “We strongly believe that Malaysia has the right qualities for achieving greater heights in international healthcare travel: excellent quality in healthcare services, accessibility and affordability. Easy for travelers to communicate with health professionals, widely spoken in English, strong government backing and commitment from the private healthcare sector move Malaysia to achieve ambition of being number one in the world for health travel, she justified.

The program was informed that over 880,000 unique international travelers arrived in Malaysia seeking healthcare services in 2014 and it is one of the largest expanding industry in Malaysia. The country was named “Medical Travel Destination of the Year” at the Medical Travel Awards 2015 by the International Medical Travel Journal and the “Best Country in the World for Healthcare” by international Living’s Global Retirement Index. It was awarded the “2015 Public Private Partnership  Medical Travel Destination of the Year” at the 8th Annual World Medical Tourism & Global Healthcare Congress held at Orlando, Florida (USA) recently.

Speaking to the press Ms. Farzana Chowdhury said “As the official representative office of MHTC,  the GDAssist Ltd works closely with various stakeholders to raise awareness on Malaysia healthcare and facilitate seamless end-to-end experience for Bangladesh patients who are travelling to Malaysia. They are namely the High Commissions of Bangladesh and Malaysia, local and international airlines, air ambulance service, clubs, telecommunications and local healthcare sector and various media, she pointed out and expressed her confident that Malaysia will become top of mind for medical tourism”.

Prior to the press conference today, a colorful rally was brought out in front of the Jatiya Press Club. The weeklong program features various exciting  campaigns on healthcare travel to Malaysia, including health talks, free consultation sessions with specialists from Malaysia, a Ladies Night on women healthcare issues, health exhibitions and roadshows in selected malls and parks in the capital city Dhaka.  Several premier healthcare institutions from Malaysia, namely `KPJ Healthcare’ and National Heart Institute will be presenting during the MHW and will have  in attendance some of the their best specialists in the fields of cardiology, gastroenterology and general wellness.
