Online payment to RMG workers by Bank Asia

Bank Asia has joined hand with CARE Bangladesh, an international voluntary organization to facilitate online payment opportunities for Ready Made Garment (RMG) workers and fulfilling their all kinds of banking needs.

A MoU with this effect has been signed between the two organizations at a function held at the Corporate Office of Bank Asia at Purana Paltan in the capital city Dhaka today (Thursday, 24 Nov. 2016). Mr. Md. Arfan Ali, President & Managing Director of Bank Asia and Mr. Arshad care-pressMuhammad, Acting Country Director of CARE Bangladesh inked the agreement on behalf of respective sides.

Deputy Managing Directors of Bank Asia Mr. Mohammad Zahirul Alam and Mr. Mian Quamrul Hasan Chowdhury, Senior Executive Vice President and Head of Channel Banking Mr. Adil Raihan and Mr. MM Saif Islam, Program Coordinator, Private Sector Engagement of CARE Bangladesh were, among others, present on the occasion.

Under the agreement RMG workers in two factories in Gazipur will enjoy smooth online payment of their wage and other benefits through the agent banking outlets to be set up inside their factories in pilot phase. With successful implementation of the venture the initiative will be replicated in others factories gradually and thus address the hurdles/problems of wage and over time related payment of RMG workers.

Speaking the function Mr. Arfan Ali, President & Managing Director of the Bank termed the bank’s motto as fulfilling needs of people through banking channel. He asserted views to change the life of every people in every corner of the country amid bringing them in agent banking channel. Mr Arfan Ali mentioned the negotiation with CARE for bringing its (CARE) around 5 million beneficiaries of various projects in the banking channel and hoped that Bank Asia will be able to meet their all needs and contribute to change their economy.

Echoing to Bank Asia President & Managing Director, Mr Arshad Muhammad, Acting Country Director of CARE Bangladesh hoped ‘This small initiative will reach the benefits to millions tomorrow. He said CARE Bangladesh wishes to work combinely with Bank Asia to make a positive change to the life of poor and the marginalized.
