A post-budget webinar was held at liaison office of Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur on Tuesday organized by Dr Wazed Research & Training Institute, Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur, Eminence Associate for Social Development, Bangladesh and Digital Healthcare Foundation.
Former Director of UNDP’s Human Development Report Office Dr Selim Jahan was the keynote speaker at this discussion. He said that Budget is not merely the calculation of income and expenditure of a country rather it is a clear guideline. But unfortunately, the budget of this year is a unique and special one due to the 
outbreak of Coronavirus where to tackle the economic crisis and pandemic pressure on financial sectors are the concern matters. He asked the government to revise the budget in order to facilitate the employment opportunities for the unemployed people, and ensure accountability and good governance in health sector. Moreover, he mentioned that the economic growth should be focused on people’s welfare, social safety, the interest of marginalized people and special concern should be given on garment industries.
Prof Dr M Iqbal Arsnal, Chairman, Shadhinata Chikisshak Parishad urged to the government to ensure quality of the health facility rather than increasing the number of medical institutions and doctors. Moreover, he mentioned that we should focus both COVID-19 patients and non-COVID-19 patients equally to reach the goal of SDGs.
Chairman of Digital Health Care Foundation Brigadier General Md. Abdul Hamid, (LPR) thanked all who have participated in this Webinar. He expressed his views on the challenges and possibilities of Digital Health Care.
Prof Dr Abul Hasnat Milton, CEO of Research International, spoke on the challenges of health governance. He asked the authorities to ensure good governance and accountability in health sector by enhancing management capacity. Moreover, he asked to do more scientific researches on health sector than avoing dependency on international data and findings.
Mohammad Shamim Talukder, CEO of Eminence Associate for Social Development, Bangladesh, requested the government to allocate more budget to NGOs and private medical sectors to fight against COVID-19 and to avoid future challenges.
Former FBCCI President and Doshdisha group’s Chairman Mohammad Amin Helali emphasized on reducing defaulter in banking sector.
