Robi partners with AccessTel for Wi-Fi services

Robi customers across the country will now have a wider and better access to internet as the leading mobile operator will launchWi-Fi services for them. One of the largest Internet Service Providers of Bangladesh, AccessTel, has become Robi’s partner in providing all technical supports to make this initiative successful.

This came at an agreement-signing ceremony at Robi Corporate Office in Dhaka’s Gulshan.

Robi’s Chief Operating Officer Mahtab Uddin Ahmed and AccessTel’s Chief Executive Officer Zain Omar signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organisations.

This initiative would be a perfect match for Bangladesh government’s manifesto of creating a “Digital Robi-AccessTelBangladesh” by 2021. It would be also be another step forward of implementing Robi’s pursuit for becoming the number-one operator in small-screen data. At the same time, the new service will greatly complement its ongoing 3G rollouts to meet the burgeoning demand for high-speed and low cost internet services.

The Wi-Fi service will initially be introduced in the country’s key metropolitan locations and gradually it will expand to other areas.

Speaking about the initiative, Robi COO Mahtab Uddin Ahmed said: “Robi has always been facilitating the government’s objective of turning Bangladesh into a digital nation. This initiative in partnership with AccessTelwould lead to a more connected, informed and empowered population. We believe that the internet-based future that everyone is looking forward to is right here. And we intend to continue our pursuit of empowering the people of Bangladesh with the power of the future.”

Among others, Robi Executive Vice President of Market Operation Jean-Michel Arnaud Chanut Vice President of Corporate Strategy Md. Iftakharul Islam, General Manager Mohammad Moshiur Rahman, Manager Md. Tofazzol Hussain and AccessTel’sHead of Sales and Marketing Rahat Khan were also present at the ceremony.
