Winter Festival kicks off at JU

To welcome the winter season, a two-day long winter festival title ‘Him Utshob’ was held at Jahangirnagar University (JU) for the first time amidst festivity.

Securing slogan ‘Homochasher ai Nogore Prane pran Melaboy’ under the banner of ‘We have traditions’ JU students of different department organised the festival at the transport area.

10336762_10203810939713141_3490202205832894090_nAhead of event, they chalked out elaborate programmes including Art Camp, Photographic Exhibition, Rural fairs, Folk song, Baul night and Poetry reciting while Art camp was continuing during the duo days.

At the first of the events, poetry reciting was held while countrywide reputed poet like Kajal Shah Nawaz, Ahmed Usher, Qamruzzaman Camus, Shamim Reza, Sajjad Sumon, Sanjeev Prurohit, Sabera Tabassum and Sahaneyaja Nasreen took part the poetry reading. At the evening, ‘Baul night was held until midnight which is bewitched the audience.

On the second day, directed by Haroon Rashid dancing doll was held at the Muktamancha. Later, a bangle band title “Mahinera horses tribute’ was also held at the Muktamancha singing by Sahajiya, Kafil Ahmed, Chitkar, Biscuits, Sina Hassan, New Sonar Bengle Circus Party, Aqeel Ashraf, Sayem Win, Sayed Farhad, Sunny and the Sunflower, among others.

Shanchita, a second year student of Finance and Banking and also the organizer of the event said the correspondent that, winter fair is reminded our indigenous old culture. We feel very happy to observe the festival. We want to continue our festival.’
