RU demands justice of its professor’s killing

Teachers and students of Rajshah University English department continued their demonstration on the campus on Saturday, the 56 days of the murder of killing Professor Rezaul Karim Siddiquee, demanding justice into killing.

At 11am, teachers and students of the department brought out a silent procession from ruShohidullah Khola building on campus which ended at a brief rally in Mukul Monch, a makeshift platform set up after nick name of slain professor.

Addressing the rally Professorthew Maswood Akhter, chair of English department said,after almost more 50 days police killed a criminal by uttered crossfire. But we didn’t want crossfire, we want legal justice.

They also said that the next part of the little weekly magazine “Shoptok” will be published to delegate Professor Rezaul Karim Siddique.

In the meantime, Professor Ashim Kumer Dash, Prof Shahidur Rahman, Assistant Prof Shehnaj Easmin, Assistant Prof Abdullah Al Mamun, Assistant Prof Rubaida Akhter including almost hundred students took part on the rally.

On April 23, Prof Rezaul Karim Siddiquee was hacked to death near his house while he was awaiting the University transport at Battala intersection in Rajshahi city.
