Smartphone penetration in Bangladesh is increasing as 12 phones are being sold in every single minute including 7 smartphones, according to a study conducted by Google Developer Group (GDG) Dhaka and technology organization Preneur Lab.
The report was unveiled at the first-ever mobile conference (MOBICON) in Bangladesh held on Saturday at Independent University of Bangladesh (IUB, said a press release today.
GDG Dhaka, community organization of Google in Bangladesh, organized the summit in association with local technology start-up Preneur Lab where local experts shared the latest innovation in mobile phone technology.
The mobile apps and service provider participated at the conference were given “Mobile Innovation Award”.
Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS) President Shameem Ahsan was present at the closing session as the chief guest while IUB Vice Chancellor Omar Rahman and Daily Ittefaq Executive Director Tarin Hossain were guests of honours.
Guests awarded the top three innovative apps from the participating 20 apps entrepreneurships.
Awarded apps are—Rx 71, an apps on health services, Kanamachi Station, a mobile IVR based radio service and restaurant featuring apps Eat Kit.
The summit is designed for developers, designers, innovators, telecom service providers, agencies to take country’s mobile industry to the next level.
There were also different segments including – showcasing innovation, idea sharing, technology talks, workshops, code labs, panel discussions and award show in the daylong summit.
