Country reels under intense heat wave
The entire country continued to reel under scorching heat as the mercury shot up to 40.6 degrees Celsius today making it one of the hottest days of this year.
Meteorologist of Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) Fazlur Rashid told BSS that the country will get no respite from the hot weather because heat wave is likely to sweep over it during next few days.
He said today’s highest temperature 40.6 degrees Celsius was recorded at Rajshahi while 37.22 degrees Celsius in the capital, reports BSS.
Abnormally hot weather can be attributed to the absence of pre-Monsoon rains that

Tk 1,356cr project for power link with western region
Aiming to establish uninterrupted power connection between capital Dhaka and the western region, the government has launched a fresh project to install a 400KV transmission line from Amin Bazar to Mongla via Mawa.
The modern and high-capacity transmission line would also bring the surplus electricity of Rampal coal fired power plant to Dhaka, reports BSS.
Power Grid Company of Bangladesh will implement the project involving Taka 1,356 crore by June, 2020. Asian Development Bank (ADB) would provide Taka 663 crore as project assistance while PGCB would contribute Taka 155.22 crore from own fund and the remaining
