Views-exchange meeting of CSBIB with Faqih members

Central Shariah Board for Islamic Banks of Bangladesh (CSBIB) organized a Views-Exchange Meeting with Faqih Members of Shariah Supervisory Committees/Councils of banks and financial institutions providing Islamic banking services in the country at Mohammad Younus Auditorium of Islami Bank Tower, Dhaka on October 15, 2016.

Presided over by Principal Sayed Kamaluddin Zafree, Chairman, CSBIB, the meeting was addressed as the Chief Guest by Engr. Mustafa Anwar, Chairman, Islamic Banks Consultative Forum and Chairman, Islami Bank Bangladesh Limited and as the Key Note Speaker by press%15-okMohammad Abdul Mannan, Chairman, Task Committee, Islamic Banks Consultative Forum and Managing Director, IBBL. AQM Safiullah Arif, Secretary General of CSBIB addressed welcome speech.

The meeting was attended as the Special Guests by Mr M. Azizul Huq, Chairman, Executive Committee of CSBIB and Vice-Chairman of IBBL, Professor Syed Ahsanul Alam, Chairman, Executive Committee of IBBL and A. K. M Nurul Fazal Bulbul, Vice-Chairman, Islamic Banks Consultative Forum.

Engr. Mustafa Anwar in his speech said, Islamic Banking has been recognized as an acceptable system to people from all walks of life as a welfare-oriented and stable banking system. He called upon Faqih Members of Shariah Supervisory Committees to follow common method in case of Shariah compliance in banks and financial institutions as well as in development of client-friendly new products.

Mohammad Abdul Mannan in his speech said, Faqih Members of Shariah Supervisory Committees can play an important role in enhancing human welfare through offering banking services in the light of the objectives of Islamic Shariah. He added, it is the demand of time to create Islamic banking literature to uphold the glorious history of Islamic banking to the new generation.

Principal Sayed Kamaluddin Zafree in his presidential speech said, Faqih Members of Shariah Supervisory Committees will have to take responsibility to inform all people of the best technique of use of the Quran, Sunnah & Islamic Shariah according to the demand of present time. At the same time, they will have to enrich themselves with time-befitting knowledge and make themselves capable of using modern technology. They will also have to play an important role in removal of misconceptions of the mass people about Islamic banking.

A total of 50 Faqih Members of Shariah Supervisory Committees/Councils of 21 institutions namely – Islami Bank Bangladesh Ltd, Al-Arafah Islami Bank Ltd, Export Import Bank of Bangladesh Ltd, First Security Islami Bank Ltd, ICB Islamic Bank Ltd, Social Islami Bank Ltd, Shahjalal Islami Bank Ltd, AB Bank Ltd, Agrani Bank Ltd, Bank Asia Ltd, Dhaka Bank Ltd, Jamuna Bank Ltd, Pubali Bank Ltd, Prime Bank Ltd, The City Bank Ltd, The Premier Bank Ltd, Trust Bank Ltd, Standard Bank Ltd, Standard Chartered Bank & Islamic Finance and Investment Ltd participated in the Views-Exchange Meeting.
