2 persons detained with gold bars in Chuadanga

Chuadanga Correspondent: BGB of Chuadanga battalion detained two persons along with 18 illegal gold bars (weighing 2 kg 411 grams) worth about tk. 2,93,78,231 from  Purbasha Paribahan in front of Chuadanga BGB Battalion on  Chuadanga -Jhinedah road in Chuadanga district on March 4 at about 1 am. The arrested persons are Rafiqul Islam (42), son of the late Khodabox of Pirpurkullah village in Damurhuda upazila of the district, and Liton Khan (26), son of Moslem Uddin of Hossainpur village in Debidwar upazila of Comilla district.

Tk 90cr BSCIC expansion fails to attract industries

In the Narsingdi BSCIC industrial city, an expansion project costing nearly Tk 90 crore was undertaken due to unfavourable conditions in the original BSCIC industrial area. More than 150 plots were created; however, poor management has hindered industrial development. Business owners attribute the lack of progress to corruption and favouritism under the previous government. The Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation (BSCIC) industrial city was initially established in 1986 on a 15.39-acre plot in Shibpur, Narsingdi. Despite nearly four decades passing, the area remained underdeveloped, prompting the decision to expand the project.

CR Abrar sworn in as new adviser

Chowdhury Rafiqul Abrar, popularly known as CR Abrar, a retired Professor at Dhaka University's International Relations (IR) Department, has sworn in as an adviser to the incumbent Interim Government.
