ISD qualifies for Global Rounds of World Scholar’s Cup
International School Dhaka (ISD) had qualified for the Global Round of the prestigious World Scholar’s Cup after its students swept the board in the regional round in Dhaka. Six teams featuring students from Grades 8 to 10, ages 13 to 16, were tested across various academic disciplines.
The World Scholar Cup (WSC) is an annual global team academic program where more than 15,000 students from over 65 countries participate every year. The program creates opportunities for students to develop skills, including debating and communication, critical thinking, research, and collaboration. In 2024, 360 students from across Bangladesh participated in the program.

PM to open Hajj activities tomorrow
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate Hajj activities-2024 at Ashkona Hajj Camp in the city tomorrow.
"The premier will inaugurate Hajj activities-2024 (Hijri 1445) and exchange greetings with the (Hajj) pilgrims through a function at Ashkona Hajj Camp in the city’s Uttara at 11am tomorrow," Prime Minister's Office sources said.

State Minister for Information and Broadcasting Mohammad Ali Arafat today told the Jatiya Sangsad that steps would be taken to close all unregistered online news portals.
The ministry will send to Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) the total list of all online portals which are registered, under process for registration and applied for registration, asking it to stop operation of the unregistered portals and those which didn’t apply for registration at all, he said.

The chief justice of India, Dhananjaya Yeshwant Chandrachud, has issued a stern warning against the ill effects of corporal punishment from personal experience as a victim. Speaking at a seminar in Kathmandu last Saturday, he recalled when he was caned at school. The incident occurred when he was a Class 5 pupil. The eminent jurist is now 65.
