CIPFA innovative training partnership in Bangladesh  

The Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA) launched a new training partnership with LCBS Dhaka, a major training provider in Dhaka on Wednesday. The partnership, founded at a special ceremony in Bangladesh’s capital, continues the growth of CIPFA’s international public financial management training provision. Guest speakers at the event included the British High Commissioner to Bangladesh, Robert W Gibson, the CEO of LCBS Dhaka, M AKalam and chief guest, the Comptroller and Auditor General of Bangladesh, Masud Ahmed. Mr Ahmed was also elected as an honorary member of CIPFA at the event, in recognition of his ongoing commitment to improving public financial management.

Debating Competition at DU Jasim Uddin Hall

Bangladesh Studies at California University

For management efficiency expert Subir Chowdhury, his gift of $1 million to establish the Subir and Malini Chowdhury Center for Bangladesh Studies at the University of California at Berkeley will help remove a blind spot in South Asian studies in the U.S. by focusing cutting-edge research on modern Bangladesh. “Bangladesh has a population that is about half of the U.S., and it has produced the best talent, people who are making a huge contribution to America,” he told India-West at the South Asian studies offices on the U.C. ACCA Bangladesh celebrates student, member success

“ACCA Night” commemorated Jim McCabe, chief executive officer of Standard Chartered Bank as special guest of honour at ACCA’s (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) celebratory evening, called ACCA Night. The evening was also privileged to hear from ACCA’s Vice President, Alexandra Chin, who was visiting Bangladesh along with her fellow Council member Pauline Hobson FCCA from the UK and Alan Hatfield, Director-Learning.
