Bangladesh Ambassador meets Congressman Ellison
Bangladesh Ambassador in USA Akramul Qader met with US Congressman Keith Ellison a member of the House Committee on Financial Services on Thursday in Capitol Hill.
Ambassador Qader and Congressman Ellison discussed the ongoing war criminal trials and labour safety and labour rights in Bangladesh. Bangladesh Ambassador informed that the International Crimes Tribunals of Bangladesh (ICTBD) is only trying those who allegedly involved in the crimes against humanity during the liberation war in 1971, none brought to the trial for his political faith or affiliation, says a press release.

Independence Day celebration at Bangladesh Embassy in USA
Bangladesh Embassy in Washington DC hosted a reception to celebrate the 44th Independence Day at the Bangabandhu Auditorium in its Chancery on 26 March 2014.
Assistant Secretary of State Nisha Desai Biswal represented the US Government at the reception. Besides, a good number of high US Government officials and Congressional staffers, Ambassadors and members of diplomatic corps, representatives from think tanks, civil society, media and a large number of Bangladesh Diaspora members attended the reception. The guests were received by Akramul Qader, Ambassador of Bangladesh to the United States, Madame Akramul Qader and other senior officers of the Embassy.

In a unilateral move, Bangladesh has offered visa on arrival for Emiratis to boost bilateral ties, said Mohammed Imran, Bangladeshi Ambassador to the UAE.

Spontaneous participation in Lakho Konthe Shonar Bangla
With the spontaneous participation of people from all walks of life, the grand initiative to sing the national anthem of Bangladesh on the Independence day Lakho Konthe Shonar Bangla took place on Wednesday at the National Parade Ground. National anthem set to Guinness Record
Over 2.5 lakh people sang the national anthem in chorus at the National Parade Ground on Wednesday marking the country’s 44th Independence Day and aiming to set a new world record.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina along with her cabinet members, MPs, politicians, cultural personalities, workers and students joined the programme and sang ‘Amar Sonar Bangla’ in chorus.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina also addressed the programme.
The Parade Ground turned into a human sea when thousands of people from all walks of life gathered there for taking part in “Lakho Konthe Sonar Bangla” in the morning.
