FIDE Rapid Rating Chess Tournament kicks off

Golden Jubilee Independence Day FIDE Rapid Rating Chess Tournament, On the occasion of the celebration of Golden Jubilee of Independence Day, under the patronage of Saif Powertech Limited and organised by Bangladesh Chess Federation was held today (Saturday) at Bangladesh Chess Federation Hall-Room. In the morning K M Shahidullah, Vice President of Bangladesh Chess Federation was inaugurated before the start of the games. Masudur Rahman Mallik, Joint Se3cretary of Bangladesh Chess Federation, GM Ziaur Rahman, GM Enamul Hossain Razib, Mahmud Ali Ferdous, former national chess player & County Supervisor of Columbia County in the USA, IO Mahmuda Hoque Chowdhury Moly, Executive Member of Bangladesh Chess Federation and IA Md Haroon Or Rashid were present in the inauguration ceremony. GM Enamul Hossain Razib is the sole lead after six round games with a maximum of 6 points. Seven players are sharing 2^nd position with 5 points each. They are: GM Ziaur Rahman, IM Mohammad Fahad Rahman, FM Khandekar Am inul Islam, CM S M Sharon,  FM Tahsin Tajwar Zia, CM Ikramul Haq Siam and FM Subrota Biswas. Six players are sharing 3^rd position with 4 ½ points each. They are: IM Mohammad Minhaz Uddin, Md Abzid Rahman, FM Md Saif Uddin Lavlu, Jabed Al Azad, Md. Azmaeen Parvej Sayor and Golam Mostaf Bhuiyan. In the 6^th round games: GM Razib beat GM Zia, FM Amindrew with FM Tahsin, IM Minha zdrew with FM Lavlu, IM Fahad beat Feroz Ahmed, FM Subrota beat FM mohammad Javed, Abzid drew with Jabed, CM Siam beat Mihir Lal Das, CM Sharon beat CM Md Shawket Osman Shaon, Sayor beat CM MD. Sharif Hossain, and Mostafa beat FM Mehdi Hasan Parag.

Total 110 players including 2 grandmasters, 3 International Masters, 1 Woman International Master, 7 FIDE Master, 1 Woman FIDE Master, 8 Candidate Master and 2 Women’s Candidate Masters take part in the whole day’s 9-round Swiss-League system event.
