Securing slogan ‘Be aware for better life’ the Consumer Youth-Jahangirnagar University (CY-JU) formed a new 12-member executive committee for the first time at JU campus on Saturday. The inauguration ceremony was held at the JU Journalist’s Association around 2.00 pm.
Shariful Islam Sharif of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and Abu Raihan of Public Administration department were selected as President and General Secretary respectively for the next year.
The other members are- Sanaullah Mahi as Vice-President, Hasan Dobir as Joint Secretary,Jointo Fakir as Organising Secretary, Jakaria Tuhin as Financial Secretary, Raihan Ahmed as Reasearch and Planning Secretary, Mahmudul Islam as Training and Development Secretary, Fatima-tuz-Zuhra as Legal Affairs Secretary and Waliullah Mithu, Najmul Islam Prottoy, Nondita Sarker as executive member.
Inspiring the members of Consumer Youth Prof. A A Mamun said that it is realistic plan to save our life from adulterated food. We are getting sick due to contaminated food. We are facing ‘Great War’ which is worser than an independence war. He also called upon to protest corrupted businessman and create consciousness against fraudulent task.
Mahi Mahfuj, the co-ordinator of Consumer Care Society also said that we want to increase consciousness among the students and try to free from contaminated food. Though the supreme punishment of giving adultered is capital punishment, it is not stopped in a moment. So, we want to stop this heinous work through the social movement.
Among others, Prof. A A Mamun of Physics department, Prof. Abdur Rahman, Chairman of Public Health and Informatics and Central leaders of Consumer Care Society (CCS) were present at the inaugural ceremony.
Later, the leaders of CCS handed over ‘Formaldehyde Test Kit to the new committee for testing fishes to remove formalin.
