Photo exhibition on Liberation War at SUST

A three-day exhibition of photos of news papers cutting during liberation war was started at Shahjalal University of Science & Technology (SUST) on Monday.

Exhibition titled ‘Liberation war on news paper’ was inaugurated by the vice chancellor Prof Aminul Haque Bhuyan on campus at Arjuntola at around 4.00pm.

Shahjalal University press club organized the exhibition to inspire the young generation. More than 30 photos of news paper cutting on Liberation War, mostly collected from different sources including Dhaka University Central Library and Dhaka University Journalist Association, were displayed at the exhibition. The 3exhibition will continue till 16 December, from 8.00am to 8.00pm every day.

It will depict the untold stories of atrocities committed by Pakistan Army on innocent Bangladeshis during their Liberation War. We feel that the Liberation War will remain incomplete and forgotten if the genocide carried out was not properly presented before everyone. Many of us avoided the issue of genocide and the international community very tactically evaded it. The history of Liberation War is the story of straggle, sacrifice and finally a tremendous victory, speakers said at the inaugural season.

However, they were confident that if the photos of the liberation were exhibited before the newer generation, it would not only help in disseminating the actual facts before then but would also play a vital role in convincing them against the mass killing organized by Pakistan and the role of common people in the liberation of Bangladesh. The exhibition would rekindle the past images of war and horror that happened four decades ago.
