Robi Career Carnival at SUST

Robi organized a career development programme named “Robi Career Carnival” at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) today. The daylong programme was designed to give the SUST students a clear idea about the real life situation that a mobile telecom sector professional experiences. The objective behind holding this event was to provide career counselling service to the SUST students so that they can make informed decision about their career.

Eminent writer and educationist Professor Dr. Muhammed Zafar Iqbal; Associate Professor Dr. Refat Kibria; Robi’s Vice President, Resourcing Sharmin Sultan and Executive Vice President, sustIT & Charging, Asif Naimur Rashid were present at the opening ceremony. Head of Computer Science Department Dr. Muhammed Reza Selim; Robi’s Executive Vice President & Eastern Cluster Market Director, Nazir Ahmed and Vice President, HR Business Partnering, Md. Faisal Imtiaz Khan joined them at the closing ceremony.

The day started with Robi’s Vice President, Resourcing, Sharmin Sultan giving a thorough briefing on Robi. She had introduced the SUST students with how the company functions, the guiding principles that the employees uphold in their conduct, the Corporate Responsibility activities initiated by the company, the initiatives that has made Robi lead the digital service market, an introduction to Axiata- Robi’s parent company based in Malaysia along with a brief on its global footprint.

She also took another session on “Career Planning”, giving the students valuable tips on what factors they need to consider for planning their career. Besides, she advised the students to have the right frame of mind when they start their career.

Robi’s Executive Vice President, IT & Charging, Asif Naimur Rashid provided an in depth insight in to a career in Technology. He had shared his experience with the students giving them an idea about how a mobile technology official has to support the growth of the business by providing technology solution while applying business acumen.

Md. Salah Uddin, Manager, M-Technologies and Solutions shared the company’s vision for the digital future. He briefed the students about the Digital Service-related products and services introduced by Robi. Highlighting the enormous prospect for mobile apps development in Bangladesh, he informed the students that Robi’s mobile apps platform bdapps.com could assist them in this regard.

The last semester students of SUST also got the opportunity to sit for a written exam as part of Robi’s standard recruitment process. A unique competition on business process digitalization solution was also organized for the students. At the end of the event the winners of the competition were duly recognized.
