Students and the authority of Rajshahi University welcomed Bangla New Year amid festivity on the campus. The day’s programme began with ‘Mongal Shovajattra’ in the morning. RU chancellor Prof. Mohammad Mizanuddin inaugurated the Shovajattra by releasing balloons and pigeons.
Different cultural and voluntary organizations of the university arranged different cultural programmes like concert, dance, drama etc. From the beginning of the day, thousands of students and others began to gather on the campus. Young boys wore Panjabi and girls wore Shari.
Addressing the programme Prof. Mizanuddin wished ‘Shuvo Noboborsho 1423’ to all the students, teachers and staffs.
Besides, different departments also brought out Boishakhi Procession. They carried Bangali folk instruments including colorful playcard. The Fine Arts Department of RU arranged a two-day Boishakhi Fair. They showed cultural progammes like folk music, dance etc in the fair.
Meanwhile, Geography and Mining Department, Life Chemistry Department, Mathematics Department, Physiology Department, Sociology Department, Language Department, Public Administration Department, BBA Faculty, Mass Communication and Journalism Department arranged various programmes welcoming Bangla new year.
