The Rajshahi University (RU) authority asked all to end up Pohela Boishakhs’ programme by 5pm to ensure peace and security on the campus. The authority also asked female students to return their respective residential hall by 5pm. And they also asked them not to carry big bag.
The students and leaders of various cultural organizations expressed strong grievance against the decision and termed it whimsical. They said that the university authority and law enforcing 
agency have failed to provide security of the campus and that’s why they impose upon this unlawful decision.
General secretary of RU unit Sankskritik Jot, Abu Bakkar Siddik said, ‘Due to failure in providing proper security of our students, the authority took such a decision. The authority forgets that students are the life of campus and therefore trying them to confine in room is unlawful.’
The secretary of Student Federation of RU unit Tomashri Das said, ‘ Public University is an autonomous body, here how they can take such an illogical decision, we wonder’. She added, it is interference of one’s personal liberty.’
The University Proctor Prof Mujibul Haque Khan Ajad said,’ As requested by Home Ministry, we asked all to finish all programmes by 5pm.’
