Dialog Axiata CEO awarded
Axiata Group Berhad (Axiata) has recently announced that GSMA, the association governing the Global Mobile Industry, has named Dr Hans Wijayasuriya, the Group’s Regional CEO for South Asia and the Group CEO of Dialog Axiata PLC in Sri Lanka, as the first recipient of the ‘Outstanding Contribution to Asian Mobile Industry’ Award for 2016.
The award recognises sustained and extraordinary contributions by individuals, organisations or collaborative achievements that advance the value and benefits of mobile communications for people, business and societies in Asia.

China inflation eases in June: govt
China's consumer price growth slowed in June, the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) said Sunday, giving the central government room for further monetary stimulus to stabilise economic growth.
The consumer price index (CPI) -- a main gauge of inflation -- rose 1.9 percent on-year, the National Bureau of Statistics said, lower than May's 2.0 percent but higher than the 1.8 median forecast in a Bloomberg News survey of economists, reports AFP.

JP firms assess work prospects, staff safety in BD
Friday’s terrorist attack in Dhaka has dampened work prospects for many Japanese firms, which in recent years have grown more dependent on Bangladesh as a manufacturing base as well as a market.
Some of the 240 Japanese companies with offices or factories in Bangladesh said Monday they have suspended employee trips from Japan to the country and grounded local employees in the wake of the attack by Islamic militants in which a total of 28 people, including six attackers, lost their lives.
