4 day-long nat’l debate fest starts at JU

A four-day long debate festival titled ‘2nd National Inter Club Debate Festival’ began at Jahangirnagar University (JU) on Thursday here on campus. Securing slogan ‘Joktikotay Uttkorshito Hok Torun Pran’, Sarkar o Rajniti Bitorko Manch (SRBM) in association with JU Debate Organization organised the fest.

At around 3.30pm, convener Abdul Kader Marzuk and also president of SRBM disclosed the event at a press conference at the office of JU journalist’s Association.

ju 22JU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Farzana Islam is expected to inaugurate the fest as the chief guest while Dr. Iftekharuzzaman, Executive Director of Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB) and associate professor Bashir Ahmed, chairman of Government and Politics department will attend as the special guest in the closing ceremony.

Marking the festival the authority chalked out elaborates programmes including press briefing, rally, seminar etc.

A total of 32 teams from 12 universities will join the festival while all the debate competition will hold at the Social Science Faculty- said Marzuk.

Meantime, they also hosted a seminar on higher education and visions USA in the last day of their fest at the seminar room of Zahir Raihan Auditorium while the closing ceremony will hold at the same place.
